Someone had asked on Quora for the most important word on the Internet. At first I thought this is a silly question. Then I thought it again and read through what others had answered. The selection was quite wide. Some said it's networking and someone even went for LOL. But I thought the answer should be clear:

Communication

Communication is what the Internet basically is all about. Communicating with someone or something. Communicating with faceless and nameless unknown, maybe the whole world. Communicating with known, such as friends, family members, colleagues...

The technology around Internet is based on communication. The usage is based on communication. It may be one way or two way communication. It may be from one to many or from many to one. It may be even communicating with yourself. It's nothing but communication.
