TDOP: Of mice and women

I don't like bugs. They seriously bug me. I know they have their part in the ecosystem and I don't want to kill them all. I just don't want them close to myself. Snakes truly scare me, and so do some other lizards. Big ones, slimy ones and the dangerous ones.

However I'm not afraid of mice or small lizards. I only can explain that with what I've been told: When I was a baby our family's cat, Misu, used to bring me some mice and lizards. He had an upmost respect for me for the rest of his life and that was his way of showing it. And maybe feed the small and helpless.

My home place is a wooden house in countryside. If I was quiet the mice living between the walls and the roof would race around and I could hear them. Once, at the time we didn't have any cats in the house, I was awake at night and watched as a small grey mouse worked her way on the floor of my room. I was really quiet, didn't even move, so I wouldn't scare her off. I don't know where the little thing came from, nor where she went. But I wasn't afraid. If it had been a snake I'd been frightened and if it had been a bee I'd been alarmed. The mouse made me fascinated.
