Of writing and the Weekly Wrapup

In the garden on Instacanv.as (via tasselflower blog)

When I was a kid I used to dream about being a writer. No, not about being a writer as much as writing a book. I really wanted to write and publish a book. Or a couple.

In school the Finnish classes were my favorite thing. Mostly because of the essay writing. Especially I loved when we were allowed to write stories, fiction, something of our own. The fact based writing felt a bit wrong to me. I never felt I had enough data to back up my writings.

When I turned 13 I got my first computer. The main thing I did with it was of course writing. I would write "books". I would write short stories. Poems, diary, anything. Most the time I just wrote.

I got familiar with Internet and this thing called World Wide Web in late 1997 and found out it was great for two things: Connecting with other people and publishing. I could write what I wanted and publish it right away. My first websites were filled with my poems and short stories. (Some of the people close to me, who thought they were wise and knew all about the world, would say my poems were too personal.) I also started to keep these little online diaries, before I knew anything about blogs.

As you can guess, writing is still something I love to do. In times I think I could write that book, though now I also think I could as well publish it myself. Perhaps one of these days I will come up with something. Fiction or fact. And maybe it will be an e-book, self published in the spirit of the Web.

Last week on tasselflower blog (eg. Weekly Wrapup)

Suomeksi (In Finnish):

Kuten voit arvata, kirjoittaminen on yhä tärkeää minulle.
