The site of Tuesday #16 on tasselflower blog: We Heart It

We Heart It is a community site on which one can create an online album (called as a heart) of inspirational images and videos. The social features include tagging the images and videos and following other users. The site is very simple in many ways: It's layout is clean and focused on the content and the idea of it is not too complicated.

The site of tuesday #15 on tasselflower blog: Maria's

This week The site of Tuesday takes a leap to the girly side. No, there's nothing wrong with that. Embrace the girly!

Maria's is a photoblog of Maria from Stockholm, Sweden. Her style is that washed light which makes her photos look a tad old, like taken in passed years with a cheap film camera. Maria also makes and shares stuff you can print and use and she sells her photos on Etsy. By the way, Etsy was featured as a Site of Tuesday a couple of weeks ago. Welcome to Maria's!

The site of Tuesday #14 on tasselflower blog: James Van Der Memes

I was never a Dawson's Creek fan. Actually I never really watched it. Sometimes I tried to, but I never got it. But I know the show existed and I even "know" some of the characters. Including the ever annoying Dawson (James Van Der Beek). If from nothing else, I would know the face of crying Dawson. It has became an Internet phenomenon. It's so popular that using it should be punishable by law. Or something.

But no reason to worry! There's a new site with a bunch of new gifs to show your "Van Der Feelings". James Van Der Memes features a whole bunch of stupid gifs to be used on forums, blog comments and everywhere else. And the whole thing is by James Van Der Beek himself. Oh boy.

The site of Tuesday #13: Fake Criterions

Fake Criterions is a collection of movies that should, for a reason or another, be released as part of The Criterion Collection. Well... At least as a parody. The site features a collection of very well made Criterion styled non-existing DVD covers.

I took the screenshot earlier when there was still the cover for the Renny Harlin's Driven (2001). Maybe the movie shouldn't be a Criterion, but that's one cool cover for it.

More of these? Check out site of Tuesday.

The site of Tuesday #12: Etsy

Etsy is an online marketplace for handmade (and vintage) goods. Basically anyone can sell or buy all sorts of interesting items from prints to bags and purses, and from furniture to clothing. As the buyers, Etsy sellers come from all over the world.

The site has a clean yet not boring look. The main attention is on the items on sale. These items are highlighted in many different ways and the layout of the site compliments them. Besides the marketplace, Etsy includes loads of community features, blog and even apps, which can be built with the Etsy API. The blog includes topics from Etsy News to How-To articles. Treasury gives the Etsy members a chance to create shoppinglists, or galleries of the seller items and some of these lists are featured on the home page under the Handpicked items topic. Today's handpicked items you can see on the screenshot are from a list called Nerd Planet.

This is the last site of Tuesday for the year 2010, interestingly number 12. The year 2011 brings new sites and new inspiration. If you have any suggestions for the sites of Tuesday (or just suggestions of sites I should check out), do leave a comment or contact me.

The site of Tuesday #11: The Oatmeal

This week The site of Tuesday goes for a bit of a fun side. The Oatmeal is full of nutty created by a guy called Matthew Inman. The site includes helpful quizzes, such as How long could you survive after punching a bear in the balls?. It gives 30 seconds for me.

What really has drawn me to this site are the informative comics. If you are about to pet a cat, check how to pet a kitty. If you use Twitter see How #FollowFriday is supposed to work. Got the idea? Yeah, loads of beneficial information.

The site of Tuesday 10: DesignM.ag

You may have noticed that because of my professional and personal interest on web design I like to browse through interesting web design related sites. DesignM.ag is one of those, a community-based website for web designers and developers. The site includes articles, news, tutorials, gallery and design inspiration, such as 24 Clever and Unique Logo Designs.

The site of Tuesday #9: JVLphoto.com

Here's a thing I really like about social media: I am able to make friends with people who live somewhere far. Like on a whole 'nother continent. Justin Van Leeuwen lives in Ottawa, Canada and I do call him my friend. I've never met him, but I still can communicate with him and get to know with him. See my point?

I first found Justin on Twitter and the reason I started to follow him there was (not what he thinks) actually his photoblog, JVLphoto.com. Besides posting the great photos on this nice and simple site, Justin writes short clips about his life, family and photographing. He's also available for hire as a photographer for all sorts of events and stuff.

The site of Tuesday #8: SoundBible

Have you ever needed a cow moo, thunder and rain sounds or a metallic bang for something? I was looking for some cheap or preferably free sound clips and stumbled upon SoundBible.com. The site is filled with free, Creative Commons and public domain sound clips.

The sounds are available as WAV and MP3. They can be previewed or rather prelistened and many of them can be used even commercially! Just remember to check the license before using the sound. One can also share their own sound clips on the site. Besides, SoundBible is not exactly a sore to the eye either.

Tomato Branch screenshot 281110

I created a new layout for Tomato Branch. It's a bit more clear and simple than the last one, but still very much me. Like earlier, all the scribblings on the background are by me. And like earlier there might be some changes on the way when I notice something needs to be changed. Like a real tomato branch, this one grows and evolves.

I also moved the site to the subdomain, but the old address is redirected to the new one. So no worries. Though I would love it if you'd change the address on your blogroll. If you have one. And if you had the site on it earlier. I try and fix the address on everywhere else, but since I have too many accounts on too many services, it's a long long run.

Speaking of blogroll... Remember to check out my list of interesting websites. I try and update it in time to time.

If you have any problems with the new version of the site, please please let me know. Nothing's more annoying than to find out something doesn't work when the site has been online for months. So feedback is actually helpful.
